The mission of Reset EDU is to empower teachers and inspire new ideas in teaching and learning!
Reset EDU is a YouTube web series that strives to help educators hit their professional “reset” button by applying Design Thinking principles to teaching: curriculum, physical spaces, or even professional relationships. In these episodes, we will dive into personal stories of friends, colleagues, and others who want to collaborate to refresh and promote positive change in their teaching. Reset EDU is the brainchild of Jennifer Leban, for her #LAX18 Google Innovator Project.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again? Is it time for a RESET?
“If we keep doing the same things we’ve always done, we’ll keep getting what we’ve always gotten. When we push ourselves outside of our comfort zone and try new things, we can reach a new level of potential previously unimagined.”
Jennifer Leban is a 2020 IL State Teacher of the Year Finalist and 2019-20 Teach Plus Illinois Teaching Policy Fellow. A National Board Certified Teacher, Jennifer taught creative technology and visual arts classes at Sandburg Middle School for 20 years, where she also served as department chair, team leader, and a member of the district technology committee. In 20-21, she transitioned to Jefferson Elementary School, where she runs the library media center and maker spaces.
Jennifer teaches professional development classes to teachers in her district, is a mentor for new teachers, and has supervised student teachers from nearby Elmhurst College. Jennifer is an education ambassador for WeVideo, Flipgrid, Wakelet, and Classroom Q.
To date, Jennifer has won over eight grants from her district foundation, and in 2018 won a National PTA/Google “Be Internet Awesome” grant to provide a digital citizenship forum to parents in the community. Jennifer presents at education conferences throughout the United States, such as ISTE, AMLE, IDEAcon, and CPS Googlepalooza.
Outside of the classroom, Jennifer is a retired roller derby skater who coaches her local female junior derby league. Jennifer earned her BA in Arts Education with honors from Elmhurst College and completed her MA in Educational Leadership through St. Xavier University.
